A Perfect Place for Environmental Education
The forest and waterfront at Camp Sealth is ideal for environmental learning. The native forests have both conifers and deciduous trees, ranging from seedlings to old growth. Several different ecosystems are accessible by trail, including wetlands with small streams. Evidence of past fires, logging, tree diseases and forest succession offer great learning opportunities. More than a mile of beach at Sealth offers hands-on learning about Puget Sound. Geologic features show evidence of the glacial age as well as current land movements.
Options for environmental activities are tremendous; our staff is talented, experienced and creative. We can help you combine recreational activities with your academic objectives. Learn about your "ecological footprint", or play “Predator and Prey” to learn food web concepts in a fun, active manner. Take night or day hikes to explore the woods, beach, sights, sounds and scents. We offer customized workshops, classes and activities, teacher training programs, or simply provide you with our resource materials.
Food Service
Food service can be provided for you; or you can do your own cooking in one of the kitchenettes. Home-style meals, gourmet coffee, and efficient/friendly staff have given Sealth’s kitchen a great reputation. Guests love our customized menus, variable pricing, how we work with special diets, and our flexible approach. Alternatively, your group can do your own cooking in one of several kitchenettes. The Wrangler unit (Parsons Lodge) has a fully-equipped small commercial kitchen.
