Fred Meyer stores will be collecting donations in the coin boxes at the check stands for our Council from January 30 through May 21, 2011 in Shoreline, Bellevue, Greenwood, Kitsap, Lake City, Totem Lake, Ballard, Port Orchard, Issaquah, Redmond, Auburn, Burien, Benson Plaza, Covington, Federal Way, Kent, Redondo, and Renton.

REI Supports Environmental Education
Trees and Trails at Camp Sealth

In partnership with REI, we were able to enhance Camp Sealth’s environmental education curriculum to include a service learning component on tree planting last year. REI's support allowed 1,120 elementary and middle school children from Seattle and Tacoma School Districts and 350 adults to participate in programs specifically designed to reforest 75 acres and restore and maintain 5 miles of hiking trails at Camp Sealth.

As Sally Jewell, REI's president and CEO stated, "REI recognizes that today's youth will be tomorrow's stewards of the environment. REI is committed to providing opportunities for young people to experience the joys of outdoor recreation and learn how to care for open spaces and our shared public lands."
