Explore the wonders of the night!

Overview
When the sun sets, it’s time for adventure! Make new friends with your tight-knit group of night-owls. You’ll gradually adjust your sleep schedule to stay up all night, and then we’ll help you get it back to normal right before you go home. Try new camp activities as well as some traditional ones in the dark. Nocturnal animals are a treat to see and hear, and you’ll do archery by flashlight and canoe by twilight.

Some highlights of the week can include:

Night Archery: After you learn the basics of archery during the day, we’ll use glow sticks and headlamps to score bulls’ eyes.

Night Challenge: Spend a few hours on our low challenge course developing a team and learning about yourself. Later, we’ll come back and develop an even closer unit as we face challenges in the dark.

Night Hikes, Midnight Polar Bears and Aqua Luca: Travel through camp without the use of a flashlight. Learn about nocturnal animals and watch the stars. Spend time on the waterfront watching the ocean glow at your fingertips, or decide to swim in the Sound at night.

Wolf Town: We’ll travel to wolf town, a wolf sanctuary, to learn about nocturnal animals from professionals.

Sunrise Trip: After you stay up all night we’ll travel to Pt. Robinson Light House to watch the sunrise over Mt. Rainer.

Packing List

* An outfit of dark clothing, for camouflage activities

Requirements
This program has a long history at Sealth of being a safe environment. It is crucial that campers understand that this session is designed for them to push their comfort level, make new friends, and learn more about themselves. Our program does not tolerate campers trying to scare each other or disrupt the rest of camp at night.

Parents must also sign the release form for Wolftown. While we do not believe there is any danger in observing the wolves and raptors, the sanctuary requires the waiver of liability.
