You get help runners get their chips for time tracking, distribute t-shirts, and make sure runners get their bibs (the number they pin to their shirts). It's a lot of fun to see runners before the big day, and help out the Detlef Schrempf Foundation (past Super Sonics basketball player) to give back to the community.

St. Patrick’s Day Dash Day
Rise and shine! I know it’s early, but this is one of the coolest events of the year! Come dressed in your St. Paddy’s Day GREEN and show your Irish sprit! We will help set up for the big run, man the cool booths of free give-away samples (you can also have some), cheer on the runners as they pass us by and the help wrap it all up at the end. If you have more spirit then a rowdy Leprechaun and sport green like St. Paddy’s Day should be everyday, or love to run just for fun, or competition, then we are looking for you. We know it’s early, but it’s totally worth it. You also get a FREE shirt just for helping out, plus some delish cocoa to warm ya up! So come early, come dressed for a good time, and be a part of the race people will be talking about for months to come.

SATURDAY, MARCH 27th

Storm Drain Stenciling
“Some people believe that storms drain carry the waste to a sewage treatment for cleanup." Not true! Some drains go directly into the nearest stream or lake or Puget Sound, and so do the hazardous chemicals, pesticides, paints, antifreeze and used motor oil people pour down storm drains every year. The Seattle Aquarium estimates that more than 2 million gallons of used motor oil ends up in Puget Sound each year. That’s enough to fill a medium-sized tanker! But even small amount of oil can smother fish eggs and developing shellfish in our lakes and streams. Just 1 pint of oil causes a slick the size of 2 football fields.” (www.seattle.gov)To help protect our water quality we will be stenciling “Dump No Waste. Drains to Bay” next to storm drains to create awareness about where our run-off goes! Come and help make direct impact on the water quality of your community!
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Location: West Seattle
E-Mail: info@campfire-usa.org

We are looking for energetic, creative and fun leaders to join our Youth Advisory Board, aka “The Board”. If you can think of ways to make YVC better and get the word out about service learning and volunteering…we want you! Anyone can join! We meet monthly for 2 hours. This year we will focus on making a YVC video and helping to organize 4 major days of service. If you’re interested, contact Marjean at info@campfire-usa.org or call 206 826 8930.

How/When to Sign-Up
There is limited amount of space on each project, so sign up quickly. The projects are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

During the school year, contact the YVC Service Learning Coordinator for the project you would like to be a part of to sign up.

During school breaks, read the list of projects, pick the ones you want, fill out the registration form, and mail the form to the address on the bottom of the page. Once we receive your registration form, we will send you a postcard telling you which project(s) you are in. You will then NOT hear anything from us until your team leader calls you about 5 days before the project! Please remember which projects you sign up for and keep the commitment.

Please return original and signed registration forms to us by a week before the project at the latest. Transportation is available for some projects - please contact us if this is necessary. Bring a lunch and dress appropriately for weather if outdoors.
